Nanya Technology Reports Second Quarter 2011 Results

Taoyuan, Taiwan, July 19th, 2011 – Nanya Technology Corporation, (TAIEX: 2408), today announced its results of the second quarter, ended on June 30th, 2011. Nanya’s quarterly sales revenue was NTD 11,469 million, an increase of 7 percent compared to the first quarter in year 2011. Operating loss in the quarter was NTD 6,530 million. The company posted its net loss of NTD 7,903 million in the second quarter or negative NTD 1.96 per diluted share (the earnings per share calculation is based on the weighted average outstanding shares of 4,027 million). All numbers are unaudited. In the second quarter, the sales volume increased 2 percent quarter-over-quarter, and average selling price (ASP) increased 10 percent, on top of 4 percent revenue loss due to New Taiwan Dollar appreciation.

Surging STB Demand for Nanya’s Digital Consumer DRAM Business in 2H’11

China’s Tri-networks Integration and its rising demand of IP TV and Cloud Computing have led to the soaring demand of Set-Top Box (STB). According to In-Stat, a market research firm, STB shipment is expected to reach 45 million units in 2015. To seize this huge business opportunity, Nanya is already a key supplier to tier-one international networking companies and leading smart TV makers. With a complete product line of digital consumer DRAMs, from 64Mb to 2Gb, along with its unique and professional designs and services, Nanya is the preferred vendor in this market. Digital consumer DRAM shipment in Nanya is expected to double in 2H’11.

Starting from the fourth quarter of this year, 80 percent of Set-Top Boxes procured by China’s broadcasting companies will be upgraded to high-definition set-top boxes. By leveraging Nanya’s long-term relationships with leading tier-one networking companies, Nanya has successfully won several bids in China in 2H’11.
